What are the conditions of the hotels?
Due to increased tourism, the hotels and resorts in Tibet have gradually developed. You can enjoy a luxurious holiday if you pick five-star hotels in Lhasa. Clean and well-maintained hotels are available in major cities, but in remote locations, you have to book guesthouses.
Do hotels provide hot water?
Most hotels provide hot water for the shower from the month of April to October. But there are some hotels that have weak facilities and infrastructure. It is best that you pick hotels that provide standard service. In remote locations, guesthouses have no running water.
How are tent guesthouses in EBC?
The tent houses in Everest Base Camp are built from yak wool. Each room has 2 to 5 beds and a stove in the middle to heat the tent. Electricity is provided by solar cells, but it is limited in supply, making it difficult for travelers to put their devices on charge. A table is placed outside the tent, and your beds will be covered so that you can utilise it as a seat in the morning.
What foods can I have at EBC?
Simple meals like, rice and noodles are available in restaurants. It is advised that you carry cookies, beef jerky and chocolate in your bag.
What are the kinds of foods available in Tibet?
Different styles of cuisines are available which you will get in larger cities. Even small towns have restaurants offering Tibetan and Chinese foods.
Will vegetarians have trouble finding foods?
No. Good restaurants offering vegetarian meals are present in Shigatse and Lhasa cities. At villages and town, you can get vegetable noodles and rice.
How much do I need to pay for a meal?
The price of food differs in different locations in Tibet. On average, you need to pay 10$ or 15$ for everyday lunch and supper. Restaurants in towns or villages cost less around 5$ to 10$.
Do I have to pay for my drivers and guides?
No. Your traveling fees include the accommodation and the meal of your drivers and guides.
