It is needless to say that Tibet is one of the hardest places for human habitation. Being in the rain shadow area of the Himalayas, the locals have to survive with minimum water for use. Lhasa is considered as the humane region of the lot with the temperature rising to a pleasant 29 degrees Celsius in summer and -16 degrees in winter! Since it is impossible for the thin air to absorb or radiate heat, the temperature goes extreme during both day and night.
Northern Tibet
The climate is not at all suitable for visiting. The average temperature remains at zero, and winter extends from October to almost June. If Northern Tibet is in your list to visit, then come during July or August since the Tibet weather remains pleasant at this time. The temperature becomes warm, and you get the enjoy the festivities and the beautiful scenery while traveling in the warm sunshine.
Eastern Tibet
This part can be very well included in your itinerary! Tourists flock in large number during the months of May, June, July and September. However, no matter how convenient it is during the summer months, it is absolutely inadvisable to visit this place in winter. Temperature drops at a whopping -15 degrees Celsius and heavy snowfall blocks the roads and causes landslides. Except for the locals, any other person cannot survive in eastern Tibet during the stretches of November to April.
Southern Tibet
Though southern Tibet remains soothing during the summer months of May to October, this is the region that receives maximum rainfall. June and September might receive long stretches of rain which will make it for an inconvenient Tibet weather. The roads can get blocked and landslides might also occur. However, nature unfolds itself in its best form at this time, and you get to be a part of the festive events. From November to May, there can be strong gusts of chilly wind.
