Different Timings of the Festivals

  1. Shoton Festival – Celebrated on 30th June (according to the Tibetan calendar), this is celebrated in right in the heart of Tibet. You will be regaled with a gigantic Thangka of Buddha, and there will be spectacular opera performance and yogurt banquet! It goes on for days, and the story goes back to the early times when the locals used to serve the Tibetan monks. It goes on for over ten days so you can take a peek anytime during your stay. There are thrilling races that are conducted, as well as, horsemanship and archery contests. Not only in terms of entertainment, but the horse racing festival also has a great impact on the economy of Tibet.
