Buddhism is one of the most peaceful religious practices in the entire world. Tibetans consider Lord Buddha as the Supreme Being and follow the preachings of Dalai Lama. Since Tibet nestles in between India, China and Nepal, Tibetan Buddhism bears traits of Japanese Zen, Shaivism, Indian Tantra and Buddhism. The religion is an eclectic mix of all that is surrounding, and you understand the effect of it if you follow the cultures and the rituals of the place. Buddhism preaches ultimate peace and emancipation, and Tibetans are no exception to that.
Spiritual Practices
- Renunciation – Renunciation will show you a way how to turn away from worldly pursuits and turn towards inner peace. This is basically a strive for spiritual wealth instead of materialistic pleasures. A trip to Tibet will make you realize the futility of the wealth that you run after. You will find that most of the Tibetans have low earnings, but how happy they are from within will blow your mind away. With meditation, you can gain a lasting satisfaction.
- Bodhicitta – If you reflect on the unsatisfactory things that you want to achieve, you will understand the reason behind your worldly sorrows. You fool yourself with the delusion that you have a great attachment with these things, and once you get a grip on himself, you learn how to free your soul and realize how all mortal beings are above the mundane ties of life. Bodhicitta teaches you the importance of being humble and gives you the courage to break free of all temptations.
- Emptiness – Do not misunderstand the term. The religion teaches you to empty your soul from the negative vices of life. When you understand the truth of emptiness, you get the power to purify ignorance and rise above all suffering. Spending some time with the monks in the caves will give you a taste of how no worldly feelings touch them and they are at perfect peace with the world. Emptiness does not mean that your soul will be null and void; it just signifies the fruitlessness of acknowledging unnecessary emotions.
