Kerung- Tingri / Lhatse (285 km)
You get a view of the Jugal Himal while driving through the pass. When you cross the Lalungla Pass (at a height of 5050 m) you get a fantastic glimpse of the snow-capped peaks of Mt. Xixapangma (highest in Tibet), Mt. Cho Oyu, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Makalu and of course, Mt. Everest. Stay here for a fortnight before gearing up for the next day.
Lhatse-Shigatse/Xingatse (183 km)
The next stop in Tibet overland tours is Shigatse, where you reach after a four-hour drive. The main attraction of this place is the seat of the Panchen Lama, the Tashilumpo Monastery (at a height of 3800 m).
Shigatse/Xigatse -Gyantse (90 km)
A two-hour drive will take you to Gyantse, which is a farming town. There is an old fort with a rich historical background and the Kumbum Monastery with its extraordinary architecture. The place lies at an altitude of 3900 m.
Gyantse -Lhasa (261 km)
Though a long drive, you get to cross the beautiful Karo-la on the way and also see Yamdrok Tso, the Turquoise Lake. After crossing the Kamba-la, you finally reach the main city of Tibet, Lhasa.
